Roman
Shades
Roman shades are unlike
regular shades, in how they are operated.
When you think about it,
Roman shades provide two looks, which are both
lovely. When lowered, Roman shades provide a
smooth appearance and when raised, they are
gently pulled upward, giving them a scalloped
and elegant appearance. These wonderful shades
are available in a wide range of colors and
fabrics.
Roman shades are unlike regular shades, in how
they are operated. Roman shades have cords that
run the length of the back of the drape. To
raise the shades, the cords are drawn up, and
the fabric is gently pulled upward.
Roman shades are available in almost every
fabric, and quality you could want, including,
chintzes, muslins, linens, light, medium, and
heavyweight cottons, raw silks, velvets, and
upholstery fabrics. Therefore, depending on the
fabric you choose, you can either softly filter
the light or completely block it.
With the more delicate the fabrics, you'll need
to spend more time, and care with their
maintenance and because of the exposed cords in
the back of the shades, careful and
time-consuming hand washing is a most. For this
reason, many people choose to Scotch guard their
Roman shades made of delicate fabrics. Scotch
guarded and heavier fabrics can be vacuumed to
remove dust. Though Roman shades require a
little more care, they deliver great style and
flair.
